The perfect refuge in a house in the quietest area of Spain

In this occasion, the house of the week takes us to the province of Soria in which we can find this shy town surrounded by Mount Berrún, the reservoir of Cuerda del Pozo, the Sierra de Cabrejas and Mount Valonsadero. A privileged enclave in protected natural areas in the Riberas del Duero and its tributaries, the Robledales del Berrún and the Sabinares of the Sierra de Cabrejas, all of them integrated into the Natura 2000 network. This beautiful and close-up house of Herreros located in the centre of the town just 23 km from Soria capital is ideal for those who seek isolation, live really in a quiet place and nature, and at the same time a couple of hours from Madrid.

This beautiful house was completely renovated and redistributed in 2009. Once we access it and find a landscaped patio of almost 50m2, where dinners and meetings with friends will be very frequent and lasting.

The large entrance hall or distributor portal has a Gabanero closet and leads to the living room with fireplace and fully equipped kitchen, which has two fixed windows one per floor and height of two-story ceilings giving a very pleasant feeling of spaciousness. To the left of the portal is one of the four bedrooms of the house, this is en-suite, with hall, dressing room, bathroom with shower and large bedroom with two windows to the patio.

The whole set has a useful area of 33m2. Passing the hall-portal, we access the large distributor to access the first floor and where there is a toilet, the boiler room and washer/dryer and a bedroom that has a loft perfectly finished in wood have a bathroom Private fully equipped. Before going up to the first floor we observed a skylight practised on the roof with motorized opening.

On the first floor, the large space of the common room is striking, from where you can see the kitchen through a large window. We have two bedrooms, one on the left with a sloping wood ceiling, always in the same rustic line of every house; this bedroom has its dresser inside the room and separated by the door the toilet and shower. To the right is another suite that has a dressing room, full bathroom and a private terrace of over 14m2 with views of the Church and the impressive hill.

The house is a typical construction of the area with thick walls of 40cm has heating and hot water by oil boiler, parquet floors, raffia and stoneware in bathrooms and kitchen. PVC enclosures with great insulation capacity and interior shutters. Coffered in natural wood; original doors and elements of the original construction have been preserved.

Located 23 kilometres from the capital, next to the Pantano de la Cuerda del Pozo, 41 km from the Black Lagoon of Urbión, a few kilometres away is the golf course. Herreros belonged to the Real Cabaña de Carreteros, an institution favoured by royal privileges and disappeared at the end of the last century with the arrival of railroads. Today it is still part of the 'Commonwealth of the 150 peoples of the Land of Soria'.
