This week we landed on the coast of Granada to enjoy La Casa de la Semana. It is one of the most extraordinary and unique houses in the world, a cave-dwelling with a design similar to the buildings devised by Gaudí. Its architecture leaves no one indifferent, known as the Cliff House and also as the Dragon House, its undulating roof, made with shiny zinc tiles, imitates the scales of a dragon

Its enclave, on the coast of Salobreña (Granada), has unique qualities in the world such as living by the sea and being within walking distance of the ski resort of Sierra Nevada and one of the wonders of the world "The Alhambra"

When the BBC and Netflix production "The most extraordinary houses" decided to make a show about this property, he was right. But what are the reasons to affirm this?

The house is excavated on the hillside and benefits from the constant annual temperature of 19’5ºC of the land. The living spaces are covered by a double-curved structure of reinforced concrete, which dialogues with the geometry of the plot while framing the views and channelling the air currents coming from the sea inland. This shell rests on retaining walls separated 14.5 meters from each other, without other supports, pillars or internal partitions. Its views are unique, as is it's light.

As for the "dragon scales" of zinc, they have been handcrafted from material in coils and placed on battens and were placed by hand by skilled craftsmen.

The house is distributed on two floors: ground floor and upper floor. The ground floor has a living room on two levels with capacity for 70 people, ideal for events and family gatherings.

On the first level, we find a large American kitchen from which we can contemplate the sea through the windows that close the room. In front of the kitchen, we have a spacious living room with a cosy fireplace

On the second level, we find a small living room and a bathroom. On the upper floor, we have three bedrooms, one of them en suite. All bedrooms have verandas overlooking the sea.

The house is for sale for 1.5 million euros

The Cliff House was completed in 2014 and has been put up for sale on the Spainhouses portal for a million and a half euros. The owner is a lover of the area that has spent his entire life in Salobreña. He loves modern architecture, but is destined abroad, does not usually come to Spain and knows that he will not use it. Until someone buys it, it is rented for filming and events.
