Spanish design firm Espai Fly tucked a modular bed and breakfast (complete with swimming pool) onto a 4.5m-wide rooftop lot: Fly House (Palma de Mallorca)
'Fly House' was created using three stacked secondhand containers, each only 12-sq-m, and constructed as cheaply and quickly as possible. The entire house is only 74-sq-m, and includes built-in solar panels, with an exterior garden and pool.
The interior features lime green walls and a spiral staircase, and most of the furniture was custom designed. The house is also designed to be mobile - should the owners wish to pick up and leave, the Fly House is small enough to go with them.

The Spanish government is planning to tax homes that produce their own energy through solar power and store some of it using batteries.
A draft decree prepared by the Industry, Energy and Tourism Ministry establishes a new fee to discourage the use of batteries or other storage systems by people who produce electricity, with solar or photovoltaic panels for instance, and who are connected to the national power grid.
Under the new rules, these self-reliant consumers will not be able to use products such as the Powerwall battery recently launched by American automotive and energy-storage company Tesla, and will additionally be penalized for the storage systems that come included with the latest generation of solar panels.
Only off-grid consumers who have their own, completely independent energy-production systems will be able to use batteries without being penalized for it. Modern storage devices typically have an autonomy of two hours or so, making it difficult to be entirely self-reliant.
The new fee will not affect systems without storage, which work only for instantaneous consumption.

Around 36 percent of homes being sold by Catalan lenders to real estate firms and investment funds have a tenant inside, according to sources from the Catalonia regional 
government.
The properties in question have all been repossessed by banks from borrowers in default, who then cut a deal with the bank: by turning in the keys, the home reverted to the lender, the mortgage was canceled, and the homeowners became tenants instead.
But now, Catalan authorities fear that those families may end up being evicted by the new owners of the properties.
To stop this from happening, the regional government is considering purchasing a portfolio of homes in partnership with the municipalities where the 774 families affected by the problem have their main residence.
